Despite the fact that most domestic experts and development companies expected a real construction boom this year, it never happened. Attempts to breathe life into the industry using government programs to build affordable housing have also failed. As a result, it is already possible to say that the second crisis wave is observed in the domestic construction market. Official statistics show a 10 percent reduction in construction volumes in the last two months compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the Ministry of Regional Policies does not accept such data and draws attention to the fact that the State Statistics Service does not know how to correctly calculate the corresponding indicator, due to the use of old technologies and methods. The Ministry of Regional Development attributes this slowdown in growth rates primarily to the end of the European Football Championship. In addition, the global crisis phenomena have a rather significant impact on the domestic construction industry.
Producers of building materials in Ukraine call the situation with construction in the country a real collapse. Despite all the attempts of the state to influence the quality and quantity of objects being built, in reality this is simply not possible. The state finances only 0.6 percent of the total volume of new housing construction in Ukraine. It simply cannot provide proper and high-quality support for the construction industry. Developers, at the moment, have not yet reduced the total number of housing commissioned.
