What I don’t like is when the water faucet breaks down at home (the gasket is leaking or the faucet rusts). It’s a pity for the priceless fresh water that simply flows into the sewer, I really want to go around without exception, all the stores in search of the best and most reliable tap, or rather a mixer.
But, alas, we have had no luck with faucets lately, so we have to regularly monitor the faucet market. But knowledge in plumbing has expanded significantly.
In the “old” taps of the Soviet era and those that were made in their likeness, but, truly, the main active element in the mixer is the rubber gasket. The gasket wears out quite quickly (especially if the taps are tightened very strongly), but it was not difficult to install a new one, and there was no need to change the mixer. The main disadvantage: the need for replacement can come very inopportunely – for example, 15-20 minutes before guests arrive at your home.
Faucet mixers with a valve made of ceramics last much longer – under the manufacturer’s warranty of 6-7 years – that’s just the dirt in our disgusting water pipes is detrimental to imported taps. The ceramic plates of the valve are tightly fitted and can be worn out if a particle of sand or scale gets between them during – closing – opening.
The valve in a single-lever mixer, can be made of both ceramics and metal. Such faucets are convenient in that you do not need to re-adjust the water temperature that is comfortable for you every time. But, the metal valve regulates the flow of water not as smoothly as we would like, but it is not so afraid of dirt.
But, the most difficult thing was not just to find a reliable crane, but a crane that combines beautiful design and reliability. And finally, a suitable faucet was found – for a bath with ceramics, as well as a metal ball for the kitchen – and soon it will be a year already, how regularly it serves me. Let’s just say that replacing faucets is not one of the most pleasant things, but today I’m really afraid of a broken washing machine. The mixer can be replaced by yourself, since it will not be particularly difficult, the main thing is that there is a “gas” key and everything will go like clockwork – the mixer is usually held on two valves, which even a girl can unscrew and screw into the lungs.
