Many residents of the ill-fated Odessa house thought at that life-threatening moment that an earthquake had begun. Walls began to collapse in a three-story residential building. According to local residents, this is not the first time that the building literally falls apart in parts, however, it still does not have the corresponding emergency status.
The destruction of the building was noticed by the local inhabitants of the house earlier, but only on Monday the walls began to shake and characteristic cracks went along the ceiling zone, many then thought about the earthquake that had begun. Despite the fact that the inhabitants of the century-old house regularly carry out overhauls, which, by the way, are quite expensive, the building continues to actively demonstrate its own character and tells the local authorities about the need for its major strengthening with subsequent repairs. Despite all the obviousness and deplorable state of the house, he was never classified as an emergency.
Immediately after the incident, local residents began to sound the alarm and turn to all possible authorities, because there was a real threat to their lives. By the way, officials and representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene on the same day and inspected the entire building in detail. Correspondents were told that a partial collapse of this house took place back in the 90s, at that time there was also a partial collapse of the wall. After the incident, a complex of appropriate restoration works was carried out in the house and new residents settled in it. If we study the current situation more closely, then the general condition of the load-bearing wall structure causes quite serious concerns among specialists. The mayor’s office also ordered appropriate technical analysis of the entire building. The first conclusion, in the context of the analysis, will be ready in the next few days. After favorable weather conditions develop, the workers will proceed to the overhaul and reconstruction of the entire building. In addition, it is very important to obtain appropriate contracts for a complex of repair works. Meanwhile, the residents of the house, in fact, simply have nowhere to live, they do not want to return to the old house, due to fear for their own lives.
