For meteorologists, summer begins on the first of June, but gardeners have their own calculation of time. For them, the hot time comes when the first basket of cherries is harvested, the last rhubarb stalks are plucked, and tomato bushes begin to grow literally before their eyes.
Tender bean pods, fragrant herbs, early potatoes and delicious fruit vegetables – the garden is now full of everything that makes the hearts of gourmets beat faster and inspires them to new creations: for example, preparing tomato corpaccio or flower salad. Often it is the nuances that turn an ordinary dinner into an exquisite feast.
Gourmand is drawn to fruit bushes, on which currants, gooseberries, and raspberries will ripen in early July. The first berries, of course, will migrate from the bush right into the mouth. But as soon as the branches bend under the weight of the fruit. The question will certainly arise: what to do with all this mass: jelly, compote or still jam?
In summer, nature bestows us with special generosity – as at no other time of the year. And where else but in the garden to enjoy all this abundance? Spread a blanket on the grass and admire the beauty of nature, see how butterflies flutter among the flowers. After all, lying on this blanket you rest not only with your soul, but also with your body. Firstly, earth and small stones are a great massage on your body. And secondly, no pillow and bed can be compared with a real herbal pillow. If at home, in a room, we resort to artificial aromatherapy, setting fire to various candles, incense sticks, or using fabric softener to at least somehow relax our souls, then while in the garden we experience a natural, without the addition of artificial impurities, therapy of fragrant flowers.
Weekends are the best time to arrange a holiday for friends in the garden. Hang electric lights on the trees, take the grill out of the pantry and take care of the culinary chores not in the kitchen, but on the lawn. In the open air, even cutting vegetables will turn into exciting fun, and if guests volunteer to help, then there will be even more time for fun. Everything that the garden is rich in at this time will be served for dinner. And flowers for decoration can be found in the nearest flower garden.
But even the easiest garden to care for requires regular care, because weeds are not dormant. And if it has not rained for a long time, then you will have to take up a hose or a watering can. In addition, as soon as the entire current crop is harvested, you need to immediately take care of the new one: dig up the beds, fertilize, sow pre-winter vegetables. Every square meter of the garden must be used effectively: after all, there is nothing better than fresh vegetables and a crispy salad from your garden!
